4am Robotics:
Support in the development of robotics software

4am Robotics, based in Stuttgart, Germany, specializes in the development of autonomous collaborative robots and vehicles for logistics applications. As a pioneer in the integration of the Robot Operating System (ROS) into software for professional and industrial robotics, 4am Robotics delivers solutions that are state of the art and cover more complex use cases than the rest of the industry. The company's success is reflected in its diverse range of indoor and outdoor logistics vehicles, including tugger trains, autonomous forklifts and mobile manipulators.

Situation

In the midstof expanding their software for various intralogistics vehicles, 4am Robotics faced a significant bottleneck in the development of software for mobile robots. At the heart of the problem was the need for experienced ROS developers capable of quickly understanding complex applications and integrating the software into the existing code infrastructure. Crucially, 4am Robotics needed a partner who was able to provide on-site support at various company locations and who was adept at working with open source code.

Problem

Solution

The 4am team remembered an earlier acquaintance with our CEO, Dr. Denis Stogl, from previous projects and recognized a potential solution. Their previous collaboration on open source and commercial projects had cemented their confidence in his ability to provide the necessary support.

After discussions with the management of 4am Robotics to define the scope of the project, it became clear that extensive travel would initially be required. This was not a problem for the Stogl Robotics team, which is made up of developers with medium to high levels of experience. This flexibility ensures customer and results-oriented support, which is very much in line with 4am Robotics' needs.

Result

Stogl Robotics' involvement quickly resulted in the delivery of well-written, functional and tested code that seamlessly integrated with 4am Robotics' existing systems. This collaboration significantly accelerated the development of several use cases in 4am's product line, such as the AFI autonomous forklift and the AMC-L mobile robot.

The Stogl Robotics team is pleased to have effectively resolved the development bottleneck and delivered the expected level of expertise in software development. We thank 4am Robotics for the trust and the positive confirmation.
