Two days of ROSCon FR & DE in Strasbourg - full of exchange, workshops and community spirit
The first two days of ROSCon FR & DE in Strasbourg are behind us - and we look back with satisfaction and gratitude on an event that has enriched us in many ways.
From the keynotes to the talks and workshops, every moment was characterized by curiosity, openness and the special spirit of the ROS community.

We were able to hold countless inspiring discussions, gain new perspectives and meet many familiar and new faces. It is precisely this direct exchange - at eye level, practical and full of passion - that makes ROSCon so valuable for us.
The workshops were a particular highlight: they not only provided in-depth technical knowledge, but above all showed how much the community grows through joint learning and active sharing. Whether hands-on sessions, deep dives into ros2_control or the many spontaneous discussions between the program items - it was noticeable everywhere how much passion there is for open source robotics.
Even if not every plan worked out exactly as planned, that was perhaps the greatest success of these days: seeing how teams, developersand supportersfind solutions together, help each other and use challenges as opportunities.
We would like to say a heartfelt thank you to all participants, speakers, workshop leaders, organizersand sponsors. You have made this first joint ROSCon FR & DE a real milestone - and we are proud and happy to have been part of it.

ros2_control becomes suitable for industrial use - expansion to industrial applications
At ROSCon 2025 in Singapore, Dr. Denis Stogl (b "robotized) will highlight how ros2_control is increasingly finding its place in industrial applications.
The number of robots that support ros2_control integration will continue to grow from month to month.

While many customer-specific libraries will already be available, standardized industrial protocols are the key to bringing ros2_control fully into production systems.
The presentation provides an overview of three important industry protocols:
Modbus
CANOpen
Beckhoff ADS
These protocols are not only implemented and used in real industrial projects - from metal foundries to logistics facilities - but also published as open source so that the community can build on them.
👉 ros2_control is thus paving the way for broader industrial use and bringing open source robotics closer to production reality.

ros2_control: Fun with robot drivers - Workshop at ROSCon Singapore
At this year's ROSCon in Singapore, participants will have the opportunity to dive deep into ros2_control in a hands-on workshop. The session will be led by Dr. Denis Stogl (b "robotized), Sai Kishor Kothakota (PAL Robotics) and Marq Rasmussen (Locus Robotics).

ros2_control serves as a hardware-independent framework that abstracts hardware and low-level control for third-party solutions such as MoveIt2 and Nav2. In the workshop, participants will be guided step by step through writing their own robot drivers and learn how hardware can be abstracted efficiently.
A particular highlight is the practical integration of an embedded board that implements a differential drive robot. Best practices from various areas will also be presented, showing how ros2_control enables greater user-friendliness, flexibility and robustness.
👉 This workshop not only provides in-depth technical knowledge, but also inspires developers to take their robotics projects to the next level.

ROS Controls project update - What's coming at ROSCon 2025
At ROSCon 2025, Dr. Denis Stogl (b "robotized) will present the latest updates to the ros2_control project.
